“Free lunches end just as the college tuition kicks in, along with the expensive books and supplies – and financial aid often fails to make up for it. Around the country, we’re seeing the effects: about half of the nation’s undergraduates are suffering from food insecurity, and around 10 percent are even experiencing homelessness. Without their basic needs secured, students are struggling to stay in school, instead dropping out with nothing to show for it but debt.”
